DESTINATION: The French Riviera

SHADOW OF DOUBT takes Scot Harvath and his team on a thrilling adventure through the picturesque landscapes of the French Riviera. From the serene cliffs of Eze to the glamorous casinos of Monaco, these iconic locations provide a captivating backdrop for Harvath’s mission.

Harvath’s team sets up a safehouse in the picturesque seaside village of Eze. Nestled on a cliff halfway between Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Monaco, Eze offers a blend of medieval charm and breathtaking coastal views. Wander through the charming streets of Vieux Eze, explore exotic flora in the Jardin Exotique, or hike the scenic Chemin de Nietzsche for stunning panoramas.

The tiny principality of Monaco, renowned for its casinos, Formula 1 Grand Prix, and opulent lifestyle, serves as a fitting setting for some of the most exciting action in SHADOW OF DOUBT. Harvath strategically chooses Monaco for his mission-critical operation, despite the challenges posed by its small coastline. The iconic Casino de Monte Carlo, the Grimaldi family’s official residence, and the historic Opera de Monte-Carlo are must-see attractions.

The exclusive peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat has long attracted celebrities and royalty. It’s no surprise that, in SHADOW OF DOUBT, a Russian oligarch’s luxury yacht is docked in its port.

La Musa, or Muse, a restaurant with breathtaking Mediterranean views, is the scene of a crucial meeting between two of Harvath’s assets. The peninsula boasts some of the most expensive real estate in the world and has hosted historical figures like Churchill, Picasso, and even The Rolling Stones, who took up residence and began laying down songs for their album “Exile on Main Street,”  at the nearby Villa Nellcote in 1971.

A short drive from Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Antibes offers a more relaxed atmosphere. Known for its medieval walled city and vibrant market, Antibes provides a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Nikolai Nekrasov, a fictional character from Brad’s NEAR DARK who remains relevant in SHADOW OF DOUBT, owns the legendary Hotel du Cap in Antibes. No visit to the French Riviera would be complete without a dip in the Mediterranean,  and Antibes  is known for its beautiful sandy beaches, including  Plage de la Gravette and Plage de la Garoupe.
