Stay in the Fight!

Stay in the fight. It’s one of my favorite phrases and one I like to include when I sign books.

It’s popular with elite military operators, and in fact it was one such operator who suggested I adopt it and use it at my signings. The more I used it, the more it grew on me, particularly because it represents the American spirit so well. No matter what adversity we may encounter, we don’t quit. We stay in the fight.

As an American, there is no more important fight in my opinion than the fight for freedom. As President Reagan said so well:

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free. 

Of course, I’d add “and women” to the above as we are all engaged in the fight for freedom. As stewards of our republic, it is our duty to leave a stronger, freer, more prosperous nation to the next generation of Americans. 

It is an exceptional challenge, but no matter who we are, or where we find ourselves in life, we are indeed up to that challenge. 

Why? Because, to quote Ronald Reagan once more, We Are Americans.
